4/4 Under 19's travel to Mt Carmel HS
Houston 7's Tourney
The weather was a little on the cold and rainy
side but the H.A.R.C. U-19 side came to play.
The Tournament was set up in pool play with
3 pools and the top 2 teams from each pool advancing
into semi finals bracket. In Pool A was H.A.R.C.
, Westside, St Thomas B and Mt. Carmel. The
Pool A compitition got off to a great start
with a very entertaining game with what proved
to be the top two teams in the pool. H.A.R.C
came out on top by 5 points with trys by Franco
(captain) John and Thomas leading the way to
victory.
Next up was St. Thomas B. The team really came
together with a solid performance and a 41-0
win. H.A.R.C. controlled all facets of this
game. Good rucking, ball control, nice passing
and solid defense led the way in this match.
In the 3rd game of the H.A.R.C took on a newly
devolped side in Mt. Carmel. Mt. Carmel put
a a good fight using there size and speed but
in the end it was not enough to beat a H.A.R.C.
side that was led to victory by the young players
of Royden (skillet), Kirk, and Cameron (Spicoli).
H.A.R.C. came out on top 5-0 and controlled
the ball and there third straight game of the
day.
With 3 victories under their belt for the day
the undefeated H.A.R.C. side played what turned
out to be a very strong competitor in the Dallas
Colts in the semi-final game. Looking for their
second straight tournament win and putting their
undefeated record on the line the H.A.R.C. side
was focused and ready to go. This game turned
out to be what every one expected Solid rugby
puntuated by clean play and hard hitting. H.A.R.C.
struck first with a 30 meter try score by R.J..
This led to a 5 meter stand by H.A.R.C. side
that ended the half. With 4 minutes remaining
in the second half the Dallas Colts scored on
kick and chase. They tacked on the conversion
in what proved to be the difference in the game
and a 7-5 loss for H.A.R.C.
Katy went on to defeat St. Thomas in the semi
final and then the Dallas Colts in the final
taking the tournament hardware home. We at H.A.R.C.
would like to extend our thanks and appreciation
to all of the parents especially Rachel for
helping the tourny run smoothly. We would also
like to thank the Colts for making the drive
down and all the teams who participated and
helped make it an oustanding day of rugby. And
last but certainly not least to all of the Referees
who voluteered their time and patients for the
day.
