HARC Women get 3rd Place at the Roughstock 10's

In a weekend of rugby that was literally breath-taking, thanks to the beautiful and thin air of Boulder, CO, the HARC ladies introduced a taste of Texas into the Colorado- team dominated Roughstock 10s tournament, taking away a third place finish and earning props from all the teams present.

HARC began the day on a high note with a 20-15 OT win against the Boulder Babes, secured by tries from Baton Rouge's own Marcel (Jenny) Gawronski in the first half and a weak side run off a scrum that resulted in a try by back Amanda Hallerman. A massive hit by flyhalf Mattison Grey set the tone for what would be a hard fought second half. The nail in Boulder's coffin was a fast-paced, hard-pressured drive in over time that ended with forward Devin Keller pounding through Boulder's defense for the game-winning score. This first round victory was followed by a hard-fought game against Colorado University that resulted in a loss of 20-15 despite some fierce play and tries by Keller, Grey, and Gawronski. The HARC ladies rallied after this setback, however, winning their third game against the Old Babes of Boulder 25-15. This action-packed match saw a whole team effort on a line out that resulted in a long run and score by Jen Lin; two tries from Hallerman, assisted by Grey and Lin; a second try from Lin with an assist by Rachel Davis; and a final punch through the Old Babe's line by Alena Kolarsky to end the game. HARC continued to dominate the field in their fourth match against Black Ice of Denver where Hallerman and Lin dominated the try zone, earning two tries each, while Grey added another try for good measure to secure a 25-15 victory. The win was enough to secure third place, as HARC fought hard but failed to advance in the next match against Colorado University. All in all a well-fought battle for the entire team, with three back to back games that included strong play from all members of the team, who later went on to acquit themselves equally well in the flip cup tournament held that night, taking both fifth and third place. Congratulations ladies!
