WIN: 20-0
The field was muddy mess at the start of the day and two matches of men's sides later, sure footing was nowhere to be found. After a delayed start, the HARC women's team slopped out onto the pitch and proceeded to put on a fine display of rugby against visiting Baton Rouge. The home team set the standard early with punishing runs and ferocious tackles, and commendably the Baton Rouge squad answered with gritty play of their own, which resulted in a very entertaining match. The conditions called for a game played close to the pack, and the HARC women maintained possession well and were able to drive the ball down the field effectively. The scoring opened up with Rachel Davis scoring from close range right through the heart of the opposition's defense. Brandi Boyd added a second try and woman of the match, Jen Lin, was rewarded for her tenacious play on both sides of the ball with two tries in the second half. Kicking was quite difficult in the mud (both in play and for points) and no conversions were successful. The final score was 20-0 for the home team, much to the delight of the crowd, many of whom had internal stenographers wildly scribbling mental notes on how to tackle low and through the ballcarrier on defense and offload out of a tackle on offense. Congratulations are in order for a very well played match.
The final score was 20-0. Rachel Davis (x1), Brandi Boyd (x1), and Jen Lin (x2) scored tries with no conversions.
